Thriving Together aims to bring the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector together to make a positive impact on the lives of Northumberland residents
In August 2021, Thriving Together was awarded the commission from Northumberland County Council to provide VCSE support.
The underpinning ethos was to give all organisations within the sector the opportunity to thrive and achieve potential. Our aim is to showcase the work of the sector through collaboration and partnership working to make a positive impact on the lives of Northumberland residents. We enable a strategic partnership offering best fit representation, building sustainability through our presence. Our approach is to be inclusive by offering non-membership support to all VCSE organisations throughout the county.
Solid Foundations is delivered by a not-for-profit partnership of six voluntary community organisations, led by Citizens Advice Northumberland delivering as Thriving Together Northumberland. Solid Foundations helps to address the barriers you may be facing – debt, mental health issues, physical health, disability, literacy, numeracy, addiction, past offending, and self-belief – and will provide coaching, guidance and mentoring to support you to access appropriate and necessary services.
Solid Foundations provides tailored support to meet the needs of individuals. It goes beyond addressing surface challenges, offering a comprehensive approach that will pave the way for personal triumphs and lasting success."
Abi Conway, Chief Executive, Citizens Advice Northumberland

The North East Combined Authority (North East CA) was formed on 7 May 2024. We’re led by an Elected Mayor and Cabinet and cover the seven local authority areas of County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
Our purpose is to champion the full potential of our region. Collaborating with our partners and local authorities, we’ll create a better way of life by connecting communities, giving people the skills to succeed, and improving wellbeing for all, so that the North East is recognised as an outstanding place to live, work, visit and invest.
